Buttermilk Falls

A perfect Sunday and everything we needed.

I don’t know about you, but April was a heavy month for me. The pressure kept mounting, week after week. The feelings, the realizations, the emotion releasing, and then you have the constant responsibilities, the work and the need to be “on” #momonduty
Well, this Girl had been drained too many times to count and as the week trickled by an idea struck!! I could FEEL the call to her and I knew what I needed most.... to #reconnect with some hardcore nature time! #natureismyhappyplace and today’s hike at Buttermilk Falls did not disappoint!

I was watching in awe as the water rushes down the falls, being witness to the force and the strength of water. How it wedges and moves earth to create a pathway. Brush and sticks are no match for the power of her flow. She carves new terrain of hope and rejuvenation all along the miles of riverbank. Nearby streams all collecting close and near to her, so they can we taken on to new landscapes, new sites, new shores.

I inhaled all the fresh mountain hair, herd the bird gayly chirping along, felt the rough bark or soft moss as each tree and stone passed my step. I felt the power of hugging tree after tree, each there for their own specific purpose in the forest of life.

True to form, each kid displayed their key element characteristics.

@illstyle - my wood, the strength of support we each lean on over and over again. Standing proud with wisdom.

And I am Earth, but also Metal - I found my grounded again in awe of the practical beauty all around. I am ready #recharged.

I am so beyond grateful that we were able to escape, thankful we have a space to retreat too. Our little place in the woods when life gets chaotic #natureishometomysoul

Alice - your water sign brings you to the sandy banks to step with your feet feeling each of your toes steps on earth.

Theo - my water, you just can’t keep him dry for more than 5 minutes 😂. The water beacons him to splash and play

Robert - my air sign, kept his step light as he raced ahead. Always in the move for fun and excitement.
